Province Declares Itself Morally Incompatible With App, Will Communicate Via Vibes Going Forward

Fredericton, NB — The Province of New Brunswick has announced it will stop using Elon Musk’s social media platform X for routine government communications, after concluding that the app no longer aligns with the province’s values, its obligations, or the general vibe it’s trying to project right now.

The decision was confirmed by Premier Susan Holt, who cited “harmful content,” “weak safeguards,” and an erosion of trust—terms experts say are commonly used when an organization wants to leave something without admitting it worked fine until recently.

“We just don’t feel X reflects who we are anymore,” Holt said, clarifying that the province had previously reflected itself there several times a day without issue.

Province Shocked to Learn Apps Have Content
Officials emphasized that the move does not represent censorship, political signaling, or a retreat from public communication—only a principled decision to stop speaking in a place where other people are allowed to speak too.
“We remain committed to transparency,” a spokesperson said, “just not on platforms where transparency happens near opinions.”
Government communications will now be shared on alternative platforms that experts confirm also contain harmful content, but in a way that feels more familiar.

Residents Reassured Government Still Has Values
The province stressed that withdrawing from X does not mean disengaging from residents, only disengaging from a specific website that recently began being described as ‘problematic’ in headlines.
Political analysts note that this marks a growing trend among institutions choosing platforms not based on reach, accessibility, or public use—but on alignment with an evolving and carefully undefined set of values.

“These values are very important,” said one analyst. “They’re just difficult to articulate, measure, or locate.”

Platform Owner Responds by Existing Elsewhere
As of press time, Elon Musk had not responded directly, though observers confirmed he continues to exist on the internet.
The province confirmed it will continue monitoring social media closely, particularly platforms it no longer uses.
